Alas, past the Kevyn/Elf thing, "Schlock Mercenary" just... lost its sparkle for me.
That could also be a side effect of trying to read the whole eleven-year archive in eleven DAYS. Still. It's a mismatch. (We must be yentas somewhere in our background, my family.) Would've been more fun to keep the Tagon/Elf will-they-won't-they thing going instead of giving the author avatar the strip's newly-recreated gorgeous blonde chick. TVTropes points out that, indeed, suddenly Elf has these hidden sensitivities and talents and WTF? What was so bad about the old Elf?
It was also kind of sprung on the reader (as in "Holy shit, in THIS strip they've been lovers for HOW long?") and I never understood the motivation, not even when I read the backstory that followed. If there's one thing I hate, it's an implausible romance. Y'all know that about me by now.
So. Until I figure out how not to be bothered by the sudden bad writing, I'm once again stuck for crack. Le sigh.

Date: 2011-11-20 03:37 am (UTC)Have you tried Menage a 3, (slightly NSFW comic about two girls and a guy living together,) or Collar 6, (NSFW bondage comic) or Oglaf? (Also NSFW - Very Much NSFW...)
I've had a couple of people recc Happle Tea to me. (Be warned, though, that while I found some of it funny, other strips made me cringe. So ymmv.)

Date: 2011-11-20 06:06 am (UTC)I really am not interested in pornish crack or anything anime-style, so of the other recs, Menage a 3 is looking like the most promising offering. Art quality is up there, and good art is the reason I bother with the format at all. I have to really, REALLY be compelled by the story to read on if the art isn't pushing my buttons.
Man, I wish I could remember the name of that one about the two girls who are mortal enemies, set in a high school, their parents have something to do with each other... argh! I wanted to pick that back up.

Date: 2011-11-20 08:20 am (UTC)Um... most of the comics I read tend to focus on interpersonal stuff, in some form or another, (or at least highlight them,) except for Oglaf, I think.
Depending on how into nerdy type comics you are, I could recommend Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, XKCD, or Looking For Group. (I've never actually read Looking For Group, so I can't really tell you much beyond it being kinda gamer/nerdy-ish.)
I guess I could also recommend El Goonish Shive, but it's kinda got similar elements to Dominic Deegan and MegaTokyo, so I'm not sure how well you'd like it.
