I still get them, you know. I don't know where they come from, but I seem to have an awful lot of dreams centered around things most people would find horrific. Last night was a horror-film special.

-- an abortion in which the fetus was pulled, nearly fully formed, out of the womb and sent flying across the room from the force of the pulling.
-- a young woman captured by "friends" and raped repeatedly while being forced to use cocaine; she escaped, but only just
-- that woman on ER with AIDS (Jeanie?) leaving work and coming back for a reunion special several seasons later, in which she's dying
-- Rose, Tristan, and me at Faire, only it wasn't Sterling. This Faire had a labyrinth, not to mention its very own pervert who would have hurt dear Rose. A tall man with long brown hair and a beard rescued her and steered me clear of trouble. Later in that segment, the boyfriend I evidently had cornered me and was, er, very grateful for my well-being. Next thing I know, we're married and raising a three-year-old.

The last bit gives me special shivers because apparently someone was raped at Pennsic.

Life is still good. I don't want any of you to get the wrong idea about that, either. I may have a lot of things to bitch about, but I also have quite a few to be grateful for (although I will reiterate that this IS my venting space so none of y'all got the right to tell me not to vent. none.)

Memeage because -- eep! Mum will be here shortly and I've yet to get dressed. Appt. at 2. Wish me luck.

Now that the doctor's outta the way and I've had lunch, I can do what I usually do on pretty days and revel in the sunshine.

From Rose, a meme: ten things that bring me joy during the day, in no particular order...
1) Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows everywhere. ;-)
2) Trixie demanding my attention.
3) Nice warm meals.
4) Good books.
5) Cool showers.
6) An airy house.
7) Letters/LJ comments from friends.
8) Sitting in the parlor with my parents of an evening, talking about various things.
9) A good dose of intellectual blather.
10) Feeling whole and healthier than ever.

Your turn! I tag anyone who feels like doing this, because I can't pick just five.

I didn't need any Ativan at the doc's today. Compare this to spring 2003, when it was so bad that I couldn't even go near a doctor's office without panicking. Here I am, two and a half years on, able to walk in calmly and wait for someone to poke and prod me in, er, uncharted territory, and I was joking with him all the time! I was red in the face, all right, but with laughter. (You'd be laughing too if your legs were too short for the damned stirrups.)

So, yay! Definitely cause for celebration chez nous.
