Because I've been listening to some neat stuff lately.
FIRST AND FOREMOST on the list: Klaus Nomi. Yes, he's dead. That doesn't mean his music died with him. Many, many thanks to
lakini_malich for turning me on to this guy. His range is better than mine. Rose, you would love his soprano work. (That is not a typo.) "After The Fall" is a delightfully Cold War rock-pop-ish song. It's even in my list of interests. I had to put it in quotes because apparently there's some emo band called After The Fall. Hmph. "Death" is very... final, let's say. And beautiful.
Very fond of Poe's "Trigger Happy Jack," if only because I love the line "Can't talk to a psycho like a normal human being."
Recently rediscovered "Always" by Erasure; it was one of my favorites way back when I wrote idealistic little love stories about idealistic little men.
"Turn Off The Light" by Nelly Furtado was great when it came out and is still great.
"Sapphire" by Big Electric Cat has an eighties feel to it... hold on... that's because, according to Yahoo, one of their influences happens to be the sci-fi classic "Blade Runner." (Speaking of sci-fi: Mandie, did we ever show that before?) Sticks in ze head, stays on ze playlist.
"Wild Honey" by U2 got me through many a Sunday morning doing signs at the supermarket. It's so very upbeat and pretty.
(Aside: I am so sick of staring at Carrie from Sex and the City on my wall. I will probably cannibalize that poster today for scrapbook material.)
Wench's "Radio India" is danceable and listen-able at the same time. I do both. ^_^
"Layla" by Malice in Leatherland is very real -- so it should be, as the fabulous Basim (
bedhoppngothboi) is also very real.
